Dear art seekers,
After a long hiatus, some expressed disappointments and this morning’s epiphany, Brackish Waters is back. Some of you might be wondering where I went, the answer is many places. After leaving Jordan (the birthplace of this newsletter), I moved back to Boston to complete my MFA, and about a year ago, I moved to California. Yes, I am exhausted.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been digesting the eclectic works of art that I have seen during my summer travels in various countries. I have been thinking of all the art we appreciate when we're standing across from it, the art that we photograph, the art that we take a note of to come back to later - but never do. I’ve come to feel the need to retain these works of art more profoundly in the archives of my mind. And so I thought, what better way to do that than through Brackish Waters?
Each week, I will be choosing a work (or two) that has left an impression on me and we’ll articulate it together. While this newsletter isn’t a diary, I can guarantee you won’t fall asleep reading about art. Part of this newsletter encompasses the history, culture, and shenanigans of the countries I visit, along with its art. And as usual, this newsletter’s reading time is the same length as your morning coffee, I am simply giving you the perfect excuse to get on your phone or laptop.
I want to extend my gratitude to all the people who have expressed interest in my newsletter and have continued to ask about it. I hope you enjoy them and please share them with your fellow art seekers.
We’ll be diving into the Brackish Waters every Monday, so make sure it doesn’t go to spam!
Sincerely,
Rebecca
